Raymond Victor Franz passed away on June 2, 2010. Born into a family of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1922, Ray was baptized in 1939 and served as Circuit Overseer, Missionary and ultimately as a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses from 1971 to 1980.

At a moment when decisive action was required, Ray resigned his leadership position in May 1980, due to actions of the Governing Body that disturbed his conscience. He later wrote about his experiences, along with scriptural passages that highlighted major issues with Jehovah's Witnesses dogma in two books, Crisis of Conscience, and In Search of Christian Freedom. These books helped many Jehovah's Witnesses to honestly examine their beliefs as well as the actions and decisions of the leadership.

After leaving Jehovah's Witnesses, Ray continued to answer questions from the curious. He helped many to discover their own path in serving God through his humility and scholarly knowledge. Ray was never interested in starting or leading a group of people. His only care was that others be able to worship God with a clean conscience, free of the fear of man, and free of intervention from the agendas of men.

Ray was universally known as a gentle man, full of knowledge and love for the bible and Jesus Christ. He devoted his entire life to helping others get to know Jesus through his actions and the Scriptures. Along with his love and humility was a desire to be honest and truthful with all, and it was this courageous honesty that defined him in his later years. It will be his lasting legacy.

Not desiring adulation in life nor death and in accordance with his Will, Ray chose not to have a funeral or memorial service. Married in 1958 Ray is survived by his devoted wife Cynthia.

Could you prove with the scriptures your point of view? How can you be so sure of it. God always had an organization to represent His Sovranity,? why should He not have one now? Scriptures please, Scriptures...

Did Jesus D'sfllowed John the baptist when the latter ask if he is the real messiah? But Ray only stated what he saw as if questioning is GB really a channel of Jehovah? Instead to? treating him as Jesus treated John the Baptist , they shunned him... GB could have done the same if they wanted too to prove they are followers of Christ as they claim... What did they do was labeled him as apostate thingking it would satisfy Jehovah...

those who don't know JW personally will have a hard time to reasoned with them.. They have a defensive mechanism saying its bad to read other bible publication not written by WTBS when? infact their so called scholars based their research on commentaries written not by JW themselves... I always remember my father a Presiding Overseer in our Kingdom Hall used to say: A horse speed can only be measured when it runs with another horse.

My only argument is the perfect word of God, the King James Bible. It isn't complicated? unless you have a cult that tries to make it that way. Read the four Gospels of Christ and your opinion will change. Read it without a watchtower interpretation that turns the true meaning into something that makes no sense. Ask God to open your eyes to his, and only his truths. Jesus loves you and wants to save you. My prayer is for you to come to the saving knowledge of Christ...nothing else.

I by no means am Judge. Only Jehovah through his appointed Son Christ is. We do know that those who go down into sheol do have an opportunity of a resurrection. exactly my point. He deviated from the truth that he himself once taught in fact i heared he wrote part of the Aid to bible understanding publication. The brothers no doubt reached out to him. Ray Franz never attempted to start his own faith. He wanted no glory for himself. He was a very humble man that would help anyone who? reached out to him, unlike his former "brothers".

...I see? no indication in the scriptures that a particular denomination of the church (A third group) would be selected by God at some later date to be His sole representative as JW's claim they are. The church of Jesus Christ was birthed on the day of pentecost and like Israel of old has had its ups and downs and has allowed pagan ideas in, but it nonetheless remains God's church until God says otherwise. And as I've said I see no indication in scripture that He would.

If you're asking whether or not Raymond pointed to a particular christian denomination as being God's organization on earth today. No he did not. But he, like myself believed, that there was a body of people that represented the true God, those that are joined to the head (Christ), those that are grafted into the true vine(once again Jesus).
